A President's Meritorious Service Award was presented to John Pratt for his service to our club.

This recognition is presented for the first time this year. This Rotarian balanced his career as a U.S. Airforce pilot and a writer. As a pilot he received his wings in 1955, served several tours in Viet Nam, and taught flying at the Air Force Academy...

He received his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley, and then obtained an Honors M.A. in English from Columbia University before completing his PhD at Princeton. He then taught English at the Air Force Academy until retiring in 1974.

After a Fulbright Fellowship in Portugal he came to CSU in 1976 as Chair of the English Department. He has published or edited 18 books, and written numerous essays, articles, and poems. His latest novel, “American Affairs” has just been published.

John was sponsored into Rotary Club of Fort Colllins by Shelly Godkin to Rotary in 2008. He has served on the Veteran’s Plaza Committee and the RotoGear Committee.

It is easy to take for granted that each week we have an outstanding club bulletin that is published in both written and electronic form. This requires lots of talent and work from several dedicated Rotarians that include Alan Ashbaugh, Stacy Plemmons, John Trone, Troy Tafoya, and Club Secretary Jeanne Fangman. The write-up for the previous week’s meeting presentation for the past four years has been done by John Pratt.
