John Trone - Spirit of Rotary Award 2014-2015

This Honoree joined Rotary Club of Fort Collins on March 12, 2014 having been sponsored by Alan Ashbaugh. JOHN TRONE is a graduate of Georgetown University with a B.S. in Marketing and received a Master’s in Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University. He was the Chief Information Officer in a nationwide company called Total Wine and More. He an his wife Julie have 3 sons with twin teenagers still in the home...

With his passion for improving water and sanitation in underdeveloped areas of the world he joined Rotary and hit the ground running. He immediately joined our International Projects and Grants Committee. He met Alan as he was reorganizing the website for Water for the Americas which is a non-profit that has supported our club with expertise and funds for the past 10 years. John traveled Guatemala in June of 2014 to support those projects. He has since obtained significant funds for Water of the Americas which will be donated to our club to support Global Grants. He has just had a sanitation Global Grant tor $42,000 that he wrote accepted by Rotary International.

His marketing and website skills did not go un-noticed by Past President Lee whose computing skills are, shall we say, legendary. Lee convinced John to begin helping us bring our Website and Social Media up to par before he had gone through the induction ceremony. He is still leading us in that process. He is now working at the District 5440 level to help clubs maximize their use of ClubRunner.
