The recipient of the 2009/10 Service to Agriculture Award is the Larimer County Farmers' Market.  Jean Reeder, Master Gardener, accepted the award on behalf of the Larimer County Farmers' Market.

The Larimer County Farmers' Market will be celebrating their 35th season when opening this year. The market is one of the oldest in the state, was started in 1967 by a small group of Larimer County Master Gardeners to allow backyard gardeners to sell excess produce and as a fundraiser for the Extension Office...

The market continues to operate Saturdays throughout the summer at the Larimer County Courthouse, under the volunteer efforts of the Master Gardeners, with support from the Horticulture Extension Agent, Alison Stoven O'Connor, and Extensiion staff. Master Gardeners oversee all logistics of the market, including vendors, customers and activities, such as Lil' Sprouts. Revenue generated from the market continues to support the Master Gardener program and the Extension Office.

Master Gardener, Jean Reeder, will be accepting this award. Jean has been a Master Gardener since 2008 and is a market assistant. She is a retired soil scientist and is a very dedicated volunteer.
