Announcements

The United States and China are two of the world’s superpowers as well as major economic players in the global market. Their histories and philosophies of governance, however, could not be more different. Exploring these differences is the topic on Saturday, June 4, in an educational program at the Global Village Museum of Arts & Cultures. Dr. Charles Greer, who has lived in both China and Taiwan, will speak at 2 pm on “Being Chinese:  Citizen, Nation, and the People’s Republic.”
Greer’s presentation is part of a lecture series with “China’s Imperial Treasures:  Art and Artifacts,” the Museum’s main exhibit through June 18.  Admission to the program and the Museum’s four galleries is 
$5 for adults and free for Museum members.  Located at 200 W. Mountain Avenue, the Museum is open

Greens Fore Giving is an annual fundraising golf tournament put on by the Fort Collins Rotary Breakfast Club.  Our event this year is on June 17th, 2016 at Collindale Golf course located in Fort Collins, CO.

Schedule of Events: 

11:30am – Check-In

1:30pm– Shotgun Start – Box Lunches will be provided

5:30pm-7:00pm – Post tournament cocktail party (*open to all Rotarians – more details coming soon)

This years supported charities include: Fort Collins Breakfast, Fort Collins After Work, Fort Collins Foothills, Fort Collins Downtown Club  (1918 Club), Foundation Music School.

ER Doc, TV show winner, author, inventor, motivational speaker, entrepreneur.  This week we hear from Dr. Noah Kaufman, UC Health/MCR Emergency Room doctor, and 2014 American Ninja Warrior participant, on the power of Dreaming Big.  Kaufman will be introduced by Past President, Lee Jeffrey.

Last Week's Program - Geospatial Centroid at CSU

After being introduced by a video from Patrick Burns, CSU's Dean of Libraries, the Director and Associate Director of the University's Geospatial Centroid system, Melinda Laituri and Sophia Linn took the stage to inform us about a program that most of us knew very little about.

Melinda began by noting how the "geographic analysis system" used satellite images and GPS systems to analyze technologies and locations by means of new tools and methods for collecting information. Their central mission, she concluded, is to provide information to enhance technologies.
