Community Awards - 2008

Every year, the Rotary Club of Ft. Collins distributes grants to needy and very deserving service organizations in our community.  Applications for funding must be made in writing.  For additional information on this program, please contact Marg Walsh at brinn@verinet.com or send an email to the Rotary Club of Ft. Collins at info@rotarycluboffortcollins.org.   In 2007-2008, the Rotary Club of Ft. Collins dispersed $16,000 to 10 non-profit organizations in the community.   The recipients of the most recent awards are the following:

$1600 was awarded to Crossroads Safehouse Inc. to support their Children’s Hour program. Vicki Lutz represented the agency.
Jerri Howe of Matthews House thanked the club for $1,500 to fund the Career Development Club.
Maria Swall received the $2,000 check for the Boys and Girls Club of Larimer County to support their summer reading program for youth;
The Family Center / La Familia, represented by Alan Cohen, was awarded $2,100 for their summer reading program.
Katy Montoya accepted a check for $1,600 on behalf of Foster and Adoptive Families of Larimer County to fund a new roof on their Resource House.
Homelessness Prevention Initiative of the United Way of Larimer County Executive Director, Valerie Baker-Easley, received $2,100 for partial funding of the Mortgage Assistance Program;
$1,000 was given to the International Brotherhood of Magicians, represented by Ed Hurtibis to support their “Kids Performing for Kids Program”.
Executive Director Lyn Hawley of to the Alpha Center received $1,600 to support their STD clinic.
Donita Lindamood accepted the $1,000 check to Realities Focusfor free tax return preparations for seniors.
Connie Nelson-Cleverley accepted the check for $1,500 to SAINT Volunteer Transportationto help fund recruiting and retention of volunteers.
