Service Above Self Award
The heart of Rotary is Service Above Self. Rotarians around the world work tirelessly, volunteering our time to make their communities and our world a better place to live. To keep the spirit of service alive, Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation believe it is vital to provide recognition to those who actively participate in service activities. For the Fort Collins Rotary Club the award is given to people who contribute significantly to the betterment of life in this community. The award is intentionally left non-specific and the honoree need not be a Rotarian, although it is presented to individuals who represent the very model of Rotary.

Spirit of Rotary Award
During the 2002-2003 Rotary year, Rotarian Joe Looper suggested our club honor a new member of Rotary who quickly became involved in club activities, embracing the ideals of Rotary's Service Above Self. Initially this award was to be given to a member who has been extremely active in his or her first year of membership, however this now can be presented to more seasoned members

Student-Athlete Awards Last Week:
The Rotary Club of Fort Collins honored Colorado State University student-athletes the 2007/2008 "Player of the Year" awards from each intercollegiate sport. Each year honorees are selected by their peers and coaches, and Rotary recognizes both the student-athlete, and their coaches.

This year marks the 21st consecutive yearRotary's "Player of the Year Awards" luncheon.Past President Shelly ("How About Those RAMS") Godkin was the Master of Ceremonies.awards are based both on athletic skills and on team leadership, as shown through such 'soft skills' as character, integrity, values, respect and motivation. Each "MVP" received an individual plaque, with their names engraved on team trophies. Many thanks to Susan and Ray Newman, All Sports Trophies. All trophies are sponsored by the Rotary Club and individual Rotarians and are displayed in the CSU McGraw Athletic Center.
