Jamie Grim introduced Tasha Shropshire who graduated from Centennial High School in February. She reinforced the quality of the school, despite some less positive views held by some. She has improved her work ethic by a power of 10. She credits Centennial personnel for helping her to come out of her shell. She plans to attend Front Range and CSU and major in languages. She wants to travel the world as an interpreter. May 2008
Amelia Streigel introduced Amy Austin, a junior at Fossil Ridge High School. She has had numerous opportunities in leadership, including Student Council. She participated in a Student Body Retreat during which diverse participants were able to connect on a meaningful basis. Her leadership training has transformed her and enabled her to make friends. Membership in Key Club allowed her to volunteer through Kiwanis, where 30 students volunteered 50 hours each and adopted a family in Timnath. All these experiences has made her a leader by example. She plans to study Spanish in college. April 2008
Donna Chapel introduced Tyler Thiret, Senior from Fort Collins High School. Tyler has been on the FCHS Debate Team since his sophomore year and on the golf team for four years. He is in the French Club and the National Honor Society. He was active in the food drive at his school where they collected 550 pounds of food for the Food Bank. He tutors at Kruse Elementary in math and spelling. His summer job at Collindale includes working on a clinic for the Boys and Girls Club. He will attend Notre Dame in the fall as a Glenn Family Honors Program student. His plans include Law School and then "who knows? March 2008
Alan Ashbaugh introduced Heidi Mayer, Senior from Rocky Mountain High School. Heidi is currently active in soccer, peer counseling, and the RMHS Peace Movement. She has been playing soccer since Kindergarten; her high school team recently won the high school playoffs. Her service activities reflect her delight to be in a school that embraces difference. The "Peace by Peace" program is a proactive approach to alert students how not to react to conflict in the future. Heidi plans to attend the University of Colorado where she will enroll in the President's Leadership Class. She wants to be in the Peace Corps after college. February 2008
Matt Rankin introduced Rebecca Levy as the February Student of the Month. Rebecca is a senior at Poudre High School in the International Baccalaureate Program, which she said has made her a more independent minded person. She is very active in school, being involved in music, sports, National Honor Society, Poudre chapter of DECA (the international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business) and a member of STAND (students anit-genocide coalition). She participates with her mother in the National Charity League and she said that she is the V. P. of Operations for her dad's businesses, Levy Consulting, LLC and Northern Colorado Rentals. Rebecca intends to attend a university in northern California to study business and hopes to study a year in Europe. January 2008
Matt Rankin introduced Staci Thomas, Student of the Month from Centennial High School, for January. 17 years old, Staci was grateful for being pushed by her mother to deal with the chaos in her life. She became engaged at Centennial by a teacher named Brian and it has changed her life. She now feels respected and has done well in her classes, especially the Equine class where she learned to work with horses. She values the friendships forged on Roads Scholars trips she has taken and appreciates the community service done to raise money for those trips. "To be part of something bigger than me was very special." She plans to attend college, specializing in pediatrics or child care or preschool education. Finally, she thanked Rotary for what it contributes to Centennial. December 2007
Mrya Monfort introduced Sarah Rudeen from Fossil Ridge High School as the Student of the Month. Sarah thanked us for honoring her. She said that she tries to stay well rounded in her activities. She participates in several sports, volleyball, track and lacrosse, where she was recently elected captain. While being ranked number one in her class, she is a facilitator for Peace Circles and belongs to Amnesty International and FRESH, Fossil Ridge Energy Savings High. Outside of school she helps at the Fort Collins Downtown Information Center and volunteers at Ten Thousand Villages. For college, she would like to attend a small liberal arts school, probably in the northwest. She would also like to study abroad for a semester. November 2007 (due to illness, recognized on 012308)
Jonathan Hole introduced Geoffrey Iyer, senior at Fort Collins High School. Jeffrey said this was a great city to live in. He has played a number of sports and has belonged to many clubs and several music groups at school. He was part of the Science Bowl and the Math Olympics. Taking Advanced Placement classes put him in a position to take part in the House Bill Program and classes at CSU-all paid for by the school district. He traveled to India to a wedding during last summer. He has applied to several colleges and hopes he will get his preference-the University of Michigan. He thanks Rotary for recognizing him. Matt Rankin introduced Laura Willson, Rocky Mountain High School, student for the Month of October. For Laura, school is her passion. She is student body Vice-president at RHS and is headed to CU in the fall to major in psychology. She read her college essay to explain her philosophy. The poetry treatment summed up her life goals as "to be a difference of one". She wants to change the world and wanrd us all that "I'm comin' in!" Her career choice: to be a hospital clown.

Matt Rankin introduced Poudre High School student, Sarah Hunt. Sarah lives in Bellevue and specializes her studies in Math and Science because of her love of problem-solving. She is considering careers in medicine, anthropology, or biology-undecided right now. She also loves music and participates in band, orchestra, and choir-all because music makes her feel alive. She belongs to the Ambassadors at PHS, is a member of Ft. Collins Area Swim Team. She is aiming to swim in the Parolympics-and to make the national team heading to Rio de Janeiro. Further, she is determined to make it to Beijing. While she is currently unsure of her future career, she knows she will be happy. "Men must be taught as if you taught them not,
