What's NewTeacher of the MonthGarth McCann introduced Jody Moore from Zach Elementary. She first extended a thank you from all teachers for Rotary giving recognition to educators. She then indicated she was a native of the area, her father being a farmer and her mother a teacher in the district. Following college, she joined Poudre School District and has spent 13 of her 16 years with the same principal. After 3 years at Irish Elementary, she joined Kim Nohava at Kruse for 7 years and then moved with her to Zach for the last 6 years. Jody likes best seeing the lightbulb of understanding go on in a student. She is most proud of knowing she is making a difference in her 3rd graders. She confirms that she has a strong work ethic and is proud to be a role model for students and a mentor for new teachers. The biggest stumbling block for her is having to balance everything-standards, testing, volunteers, curriculum, committee work, character education, etc. She tries always to take one day at a time, to stay positive, and to maintain focus always on the kids. She was given a crystal by Garth and a book from Character Fort Collins by President Chuck. Student of the MonthMatt Rankin introduced Poudre High School student, Sarah Hunt. Sarah lives in Bellevue and specializes her studies in Math and Science because of her love of problem-solving. She is considering careers in medicine, anthropology, or biology-undecided right now. She also loves music and participates in band, orchestra, and choir-all because music makes her feel alive. She belongs to the Ambassadors at PHS, is a member of Ft. Collins Area Swim Team. She is aiming to swim in the Parolympics-and to make the national team heading to Rio de Janeiro. Further, she is determined to make it to Beijing. While she is currently unsure of her future career, she knows she will be happy. ROTC Cadet of the MonthShelly Godkin introduced Captain Ryan Anderson, the new head of the CSU Air Force ROTC, and described some of his past assignments. Captain Anderson then introduced Cadet Brian Cook as the Cadet of the Month. Brian is the Vice Cadet Wing Commander, has been in the program for five years and is a member of the Wing Walkers, precision drill team. Incidentally, Shelly started Wing Walkers when he headed the Air Force ROTC program. Captain Anderson praised Brian's contributions during the summer in helping set up parts of the program for the new incoming cadets. Classification TalkAlan Bennett gave a unique classification talk.
