Dennis Kaan introduced Captain Ashley Hazel to introduce the Cadet of the Month from Detachment 90 of the CSU Air Force ROTC unit. Captain Hazel just joined the detachment last October and is the instructor of the AF 100 course for first year students. Her specialty is Space Acquisition, all details of managing satellites. She is also married to an Air Force officer stationed in Cheyenne.

Captain Hazel told us that the Cadet of the Month is a Freshman who is outstanding in the classroom, in military professionalism, in motivating others and in the peer ranking by fellow cadets. She introduced Cadet Tanner Colborg, who is studying Business Management...

Cadet Colborg, from Arvada, told us his story about how he joined ROTC at CSU. He said that he first wanted to play professional hockey and had the skills to do it. He transferred to different High Schools, and played on different junior teams. However, the intricate and confusing professional hockey processes of recruitment, try-outs, drafting, etc. convinced him to look for another career, and he ended up at CSU and in the Air Force ROTC unit. He said that is was the best decision of his life. He said that eventually, upon graduation, he would like to become a fighter pilot. Both Cadet Colborg and Captain Hazel thanked us for honoring cadets.
