On November 13, District 5440 Governor Chris Woodruff and his wife, Karoline, paid their first visit to RCFC as District Governor.   DG Woodruff summarized their personal history, the current District 5440 status, and his view of how RCFC, District 5440 and Rotary International relate to the world.  In addition, Col. Kip Turain led RCFC's celebration of  Veteran's Days with an AF-ROTC Color Guard presentation and a salute to all RCFC Veterans.
Governor Woodruff retired as the Assessor of Weld County and transferred his energy and commitment to Rotary.  His view is that every Rotary club is a remarkable representation of the community in which it exists.  Each club is an embodiment of this year’s Rotary theme:  Rotary Connects the World.  Each club is not only a member of the community in which it exists, but also a member of District 5440, and on through different levels to Rotary International and the world at large.  Rotary is an agent for change, including peace building, world-wide.  Rotary brings us together at all levels to exemplify the Rotary Core Values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity, and Leadership.

Rotary has evolved in many ways in the 114 years since its first meeting, and will continue to evolve in the future.  Governor Woodruff emphasized that we need to evolve to create opportunities for younger and newer members to enjoy the opportunities for fellowship and service inherent in the Rotary experience.

He emphasized that Rotary and Rotarians keep their promises.  In 35 years of leadership against polio, Rotary has assisted in creating a dramatic decrease in that disease worldwide, as well as contributing to addressing other diseases worldwide.  However, we cannot give up the fight until the disease is eliminated.  In this line, the Rotary Foundation is a 4-star charity that provides diverse opportunities for addressing issues not only locally but also worldwide.  Within this framework, Karoline (Governor Woodruff’s wife) introduced a water project in New Mexico and Arizona that she plans to espouse while he is governor.

In closing, Governor Woodruff urged all members to attend the upcoming District 5440 Spring Assemblies (Casper, March 28, 2020, and Windsor, April 4, 2020) and the District Conference (Mar 29 – 30, 2020).
