This Wednesday October 14th, RCFC marks the 101st anniversary of the creation of The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Our program will be presented by our own RCFC Rotary Foundation Committee. The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was founded by Arch C. Klumph at the 1917 annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. This began a legacy of Rotary being there with funds and support for those who need a helping "hand-up". The mission of TRF is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through improvements in health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. Since the first donation of $26.50 in 1917, the Foundation has received contributions totaling more than $1 billion. Today RCFC's Rotary Foundation Committee members will present Paul Harris Fellow Awards to several members of our club, followed by a presentation by Robin Steele, Chairman of the International Programs and Grants committee. Robin will share with us the kinds of programs and projects complete because of Rotarian support. What impact can one donation have? Your donation makes a difference to those who need our help most. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world. Our small but mighty TRF Committee is fortunate to have six members who are happy to answer any questions or provide additional information regarding The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Committee members include Melanie Chamberlain, Chairman, Martin Limbird, Lynne Baker, Jeanne Fangman, Bonnie Titley and Mike Sollenberger. |
