This Wednesday, July 24th, recently retired CSU Colorado Water Center staff member MaryLou  Mohon Smith, will tell about returning to his family, papers a Japanese soldier had carried with him when he was killed in the WWII Battle of Tarawa.  The papers were a small collection of photos with inscriptions taped on brown paper pages.  They came to Ms. Smith from her uncle, a Marine who fought in the campaigns in the South Pacific, when he was 84 years old and ready to share his memories of the war.

The Community Grants committee (Sally Lee and Kathy NIcol) awarded $2,500 to the Longs Peak Council, Boy Scouts of America.  RCFC's grant will assist in their marketing and youth recruitment activities.  Accepting this award was Kelly Moll, Development Director.  Thanks generous Rotarians for keeping Rotary relevant!

Last week, Dr. Steven Schuster, Medical Director of Oncology Research at UC Health, presented a primer on clinical cancer research focusing on targeted therapy including cancer genetics and immunotherapy.  One of the primary goals of cancer therapy research is to eliminate, or at least diminish, the role of traditional chemotherapy.
