“Let’s Talk About Hearing” : Hearing, Connections, and Advancements in Technology (Lunch Meeting)
For our first program of 2023, Rotarian and Doctor of audiology, Shana Tidrick, Au.D., F-AAA, will share the latest on hearing and hearing technology.
Hearing is more than the ability to detect sound. For most of us, it is our connection to the world around us. Growing up, Shana was surrounded by family members who had the curious combination of being blessed with long lives (some 100+ years) while also losing their hearing at relatively young ages. While humor was often laced within miscommunications stemming from things misheard or misunderstood, there was often tension below the surface. Those not familiar with the family, or hearing loss, would often grow impatient, frustrated, or dismissive. READ MORE...
Colorado-Big Thompson River Transfer, Water Rights in Colorado, and Water Reuse (Evening Meeting)
This Wednesday evening, Club member Andrew Stewart will speak. Andrew has over 15 years of experience in providing water/wastewater engineering.
His expertise includes water main and sewer main projects, lift station and pump station design, water, wastewater treatment, and industrial treatment design. He has significant experience managing teams of engineers within several vertical markets, including oil and gas, municipal utilities, federal agencies, mining, and industrial. Recently, Andrew led the design team for Fort Morgan Wastewater and Water Treatment upgrades and the Liquids Processes for the greenfield Water Reclamation Facility for Upper Thompson Sanitation District in Estes Park.
The Peacebuilder Fellowship will meet following our Wednesday lunch meeting this week. Our re-elected County Commissioner, John Kefalas, a former Peace Corps Volunteer, will join us for our Fellowship meeting to talk about the past conflicts he has faced and what has helped resolve them.
It's that time of year again--our help is needed at Merit Badge University the first 2 weekends in January (January 7 & 14). For January 7th and the January 14th day, click here to sign up, then then click on the merit badge university (blue box) under Online Registration. Make plans to join us for the annual Fort Collins Rotary Clubs Purple Pins for Polio bowling event on February 5th, 2023 at Chippers Lanes on Horsetooth. This event is a great family affair and always a lot of fun. It’s also a good opportunity to socialize with members from all the Fort Collins Rotary Clubs.
We will meet at Sweetwater Brewery 4pm on Wednesday, Jan. 4th. We will review past projects, discuss and select potential projects for January-March, 2023. Come and share your ideas! All are welcome!
