This Wednesday, December 4, RCFC will hold our "Annual Meeting" as required in our by-laws. The primary objective is the annual Elections of Board of Directors Officers and Directors. We will also engage in round table Strategic Planning discussions, and honor a Cadet of the Month. There will be no member announcements from the podium this week.

This month RCFC honored a teacher from Rice Elementary School in Wellington, Sharilyn Zerbst. This five year veteran at Rice is a specialist in intervention for gifted and talented students and also for disadvantaged students, such as those suffering from dislexia.
Sharilyn was introduced by her assistant principal, Melissa Duve. She presented a lengthy account of her career and how she seeks to teach every child in her care every day, urging them on to love, to inspire and to develop. She believes that all students can learn and grow beyond their expectations.
In her capacity of an interventionist, Sharilyn must develop close collaboration with her teaching colleagues, whom she greatly admires. She is also the recipient of returned admiration from them. Sharilyn speaks warmly of how much her colleagues have taught her.
Committee Chair John Vogt introduced Chris Savage, counselor at Fossil Ridge High, who listed some of the many activities engaged in by Cayden Crisanti, this month’s Student of the Month. Cayden has applied to CSU, CU, and Penn State.
November 20, Steve Laine inducted RCFC's newest member, Gloria Gleave. Gloria is a retired former teacher (CSU), travels internationally extensively and is sponsored by Glen Schmidt and Robin Steele. She will join the Evening group.
Lynne Baker recognized John Trone as a "Level 1" Rotary Foundation Major Donor. Major Donors have given a one-time or cumulative gift of at last $10,000 to the Rotary Foundation. Thank you, John!
On November 20, Ed Goodman, Chief Experience Officer of Spiral Experiences, LLC and a native of the Fort Collins area, introduced us to the current plans for development of a new destination “downtown”, currently called “The Brands”, for northeast Colorado. It will be located near the Budweiser Events Center and, thus, centrally located between Fort Collins, Loveland, and Greeley. It will be developed on both sides of I-25 to the east of the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport, toward Windsor.
Membership applications of Bob McCluskey and Kurt Magstadt have been approved by RCFC's Board of Directors. Bob has spent his life in public service and is sponsored by Matt Fries. Kurt and his family have recently moved to Colorado, is National Account Manager for Atlas Manufacturing (Greenhouses) and is sponsored by Chuck Rutenberg. Both will join the Evening fellowship. Any comments regarding Bob or Kurt as new members should be directed to the club secretary, Cindy DeGroot, or to their respective sponsors in writing by December 11, 2019, one week after this notification appears in the December 4, print Rotogear.
Bill Timpson welcomes members to join the Local Peace Initiative program planning committee. Next meeting is this Wednesday DEC. 4 from 1:30-2:30 after the regular Rotary meeting. The topic is: PEACEBUILDING AND THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION PROCESS.
The STEM Committee asked members to bring two-liter plastic bottles to the Dec. 4 meeting - they need 300! Bottles will be assembled into kits for PSD schools to studying climate change, part of a District Grant.
Susan Harrison presented a check for $161 to RCFC. This was a portion of the proceeds from jewelry sales during her open house.
Mara Johnson needs host families for our incoming youth exchange student (2020-21 school year). She also thanked Club for the $4000 budget.
No Board of Directors meeting in December. The Finance Committee now meets the 2nd Thursday, and the Board Meeting is the 4th Thursday each month. Both meetings are from 3:30 to 5:00 in the Markley Motors Conference room. All are invited.
Martin Limbird invited club members to join President-elect Del Benson and Jeannie in Honolulu June 6-10, 2020 for the Rotary International convention. Register on line at rotary.org before December 15 when rates increase.

The Board Of Directors approved participation in the 2020 Peach Festival. The beneficiary will be Habitat for Humanity. President Rob summarized the discussion and outlined the factors to be watched closely. Peach Festival financial report update will be emailed to members.
Our club’s holiday party will be Dec. 18 at the Country Club. Mark the date!

President Rob announced that for those wishing to apply for the new "Noon Membership Without Meals" category, a form needs to be completed and submitted to the Membership Committee.
